Despite being a work of abstract art, Constellation is a painting where the abstract elements are related to one another. Because abstract art is visually vague, we feel that a personal interpretation of the work is more presentable than a connotation by others. Therefore we created minute holes in the hood of the shoe. This allows the shoe to display a translucent effect which enables the exhibitor to shed his shade of the interpretation by the choice of his hosiery. We felt the artist laid strong emphasis on the colours black and purple. Therefore we added suede black strips to allow the abstract lines to stand out from the shoe, just like they do in the painting. We then painted the inside of the shoe with a outstanding purple shade that emulates the vibrancy the painting exhibits. We found that eyes were delivering a strong and repetitive message. So on the side of the shoe, we mounted an eye.
